July 5......New set up for sale "Iced Water on White"! There, I'll bet you thought I fell of the face of the Earth! Yesterday just got away from itself..... I had to finally leave and go to the River before the traffic got much worse and the parking worse than that. Fort Vancouver, Washington has the biggest 4th of July Fireworks show west of the Mississippi and we can watch it from our side of the River (Columbia). The trouble is that everyone wants to see it, so if you don't get there early it is a madhouse and if you get there late you are out of luck because the police close off Marine Drive! Well I decided to put down my work and go. And if that wasn't bad enough I even decided I deserved to eat fried chicken! The weather was the best I could remember in the last 15 years or so......the evening cooled down, but it wasn't cold....and the wind wasn't blowing.... and it wasn't raining!!! The show was fantastic! Last February we went to the Pyrotechic Convention Fireworks in Lake Havasu City....that is where all the manufacturers go to sell their product...the last day they really show (shoot?) it off. We went...the public is invited...and it was spectacular! And let me tell you...for last night Fort Vancouver bought nothing but the best of the best that was available!
July 8 I know, I know....I've missed a couple of days with sets for sale and notes..... Sometimes time just flies. I have been busy with a special order and trying to keep ebay fed. Plus my part-time neighbors are here and that means visiting time! But I do have a set reserved to put on tomorrow! If you want me to send you an email notification when a new set hits the pages email me at betty@elzbeads.com and I can put you on the list. The weather has turned foul again. In fact, when I was at the grocery today I became thoroughly drenched just in the time it took to get the packages into the trunk of my car! I think our high was 61! And they expect this to hang around for the weekend...too bad for everyone with normal jobs! Walking the dogs is a challenge as you can imagine, they come home looking like drowned rats and smelling abot the same. But somehow the flea season has started anyway! I took care of that today also....
July 9 - There is a new set up for sale "Midnight Garden" (SOLD!) go and check it out! I may have a few words later, but for now, the dogs need another walk and then I really, really have to get to work. Also: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
NOTE: If you want me to send you an email notification when a new set hits the pages email me at betty@elzbeads.com and I can put you on the list.
July 16 - Another set up for sale, a lovely, romantic "Pink Blossoms" on an almost tourmaline green. Last night we went to the Cathedral Park Jazz Festival....a marvelous free concert which lasts the entire weekend. The Park is underneath the St. Johns Bridge which casts its shadow over the park. A really beautiful spot. And it is so much fun watching the crowd have fun. Everyone brings a picnic or purchases some of the great food available there. It just amazes me that such incredible entertainment is absolutely FREE! The children dancing to the music is always the most entertaining!
SEPTEMBER 22.....THERE IS A NEW SET UP FOR SALE TODAY..... CORALICIOUS PINK AND PURPLE, A BEAUTIFUL PINK AND PURPLE COMBINATION! SORRY SOLD!!!
August 13, Well, it has been almost a month, and a busy month...I pushed out a tremendous number of auctions (and I have to thank everyone for their generous bids! ) But that is no excuse for neglecting my webpage....I have to get into the habit of writing more....like my favorite websters Corina and Kate McKinnon. They have something interesting to say almost every day! And I do have things happening all the time....a week ago tomorrow the condo building just 2 away from me had quite a fire...a two alarm. From what we have been told it was electrical, one too many plugs in the wall, the straw being an old air conditioner. There were 8 trucks on the scene and though no one was hurt, one condo was gutted (we saw the flames come through the roof) and two others have extensive smoke damage. They have started the cleaning process and it seems to be moving along at a nice pace. Still it makes you think about what is really 'valuable' amongst your 'stuff' and just how valuable is it. The weather has been beautiful and we have been enjoying it with another evening at Cathedral Park for a concert....Classical this time. And again they made it enjoyable for everyone, including the children. There were kazoos for all the kids and they joined the orchestra for the last piece. Then Wednesday we went to Sandy for their 'Music in the Park' with our favorite Pepe and the Bottle Blonds. The remarkable thing about these concerts is that you can take your picnic, your bottle of wine, chairs, your pet and settle in for 2 hours of entertainment for absolutely no cost! They do pass the 'hat' in Sandy and they do sell raffle tickets for the Classical Shows for some great gifts.....but donations are not required. I'm taking a quilting class at the "Heart to Hand" quilt shop with my dear friend Ann. The quilt is a hum dinger ...a 'twisted bargello' and it is going to take a while even if the class is only 3 nights. The quilt shop is really cool, they have some of the most interesting classes and something I would best call 'gatherings', my favorite being 'Strip Poker'. You bring a pile of 3 inch fabric strips (a pretty conventional size for 'strip' quilting) and play poker using your strips as 'money'. Usually there is a color theme so you can go home (if lucky) with the makings of a nice quilt! Go check them out at Heart to Hand On Line. Well, that is enough for now...I have to hit the torch!
